(East TN Mountains - Winter 2012)
I have traveled in parts of the U.S. and lived in California and Virginia. Desert and beach - sand to sand. Although they were wonderful places with their individual uniqueness, they were never truly home. How can I say it? The mountains are renewing to me - despite the occasional frustration brought on by visitors. So...here I am...30 years old and living back at my roots and defying the phrase: You can never return home. This girl has!
Crafting and creativity is as much a part of me as the mountains I reside in. There is not a day that goes by that I do not find myself thinking of how to improve something, a story to write, or a project to complete. I am currently going to school for a BA in English to fulfill my dream of being a published writer. In the midst of all my creativity, I attempt to try new techniques and focus on what my dreams are.
My favorite hobby and the one that will probably grace this blog the most is crochet. I was taught by my step-mother who was into crocheting herself. My first ever project was something that I find (as a veteran) to be difficult - an elephant. For some reason, I chose green yarn with variegated pink/purple/blue. Perhaps it would rival the pink elephants on parade! But I accomplished it. It is put away in a box as my first ever project. That was 14 years ago.
On and off in the last 14 years, I have put away crochet and focused on other things like gaming (LOVE it) and my writing. For a while it was painting. But I always return to crochet. In the last few years, I went from not selling crochet, to selling crochet, and now to pattern design. I never thought I would be at that point, but it suits me. I have never been one for a "typical" job. 9 to 5 for me equals random hours when inspiration hits. And it suits me well!
I would like to thank you for your support and your continued readership of this blog. 2014 looks like a good year for me and my goals have been written down.
